Payment and Refunds   

  1. What is the school’s policy regarding payment and refunds?

All live in class course enrollments require pre-payment and are refundable (minus a processing fee of $50) up to twenty-four hours before the first class (Course(s) can be changed as detailed below). All self-study and online courses are non-refundable.

In addition, the Chicago Real Estate Institute is not responsible for any late fees, charges or other amounts incurred by students to licensing authorities or any other third parties.

Course tuition and any applicable fees are subject to change without notice.

Course Transfers   

  1. Can I transfer my course registration to another student?

Students may transfer non-expired course enrollments to another student:

  • For online and correspondence programs, students may call and request a transfer before submitting coursework and/or examinations to the school for review and grading.
  • For classroom/webinar programs, students may call and request a transfer before attending the scheduled class/webinar. The transfer must be requested at least four business days in advance of the scheduled class.

Course Exchanges    

  1. Can I exchange my course for a different course?

Students may exchange non-expired course enrollments for other courses of equal or lesser value. When doing so, the student must return any course materials provided as part of the original enrollment. Materials must be returned to the school in “like new” condition. If the original course materials are not returned, the student may incur a fee.

  • For online and correspondence programs, students may call and request an exchange before submitting coursework and/or examinations to the school for review and grading.
  • For classroom programs, students may call and request an exchange before attending the scheduled class.

Instructor-Led Programs – Rescheduling, Late Arrival, & Early Departure

We recognize that our students sometimes experience unforeseen schedule conflicts after enrolling in a class. Our policies vary for different types of programs. Class rescheduling requests are only accepted by phone. See below or call our office for additional information.    

  1. Real Estate – Broker Management Continuing Education Classes/Webinars
    • Rescheduling More Than 4 Business Days In Advance of Class
      Students may reschedule at no charge, subject to availability.
    • Rescheduling Within 4 Business Days of Class
      Rescheduling requests received by phone with less than 4 business days in advance of the scheduled class are subject to a $50.00 fee.
    • Failure to Attend (No Show) 
      Students who do not attend a scheduled class will be subject to a $50.00 rescheduling fee, subject to availability.
    • Late Arrival
      Late arrivals are not permitted for real estate continuing education classes. We recommend that students plan to arrive at least 30 minutes before the scheduled class time. Students who do not arrive for class on time will notbe admitted. Students may reschedule for a later date, subject to availability. Rescheduling requests will be subject to a $50.00 fee.
    • Early Departure
      Early departure is not permitted for real estate continuing education classes. Students who are unable to remain for the duration of a scheduled class will not receive credit for attendance. Students are permitted to reschedule attendance for the entire class at a later date, subject to availability. Rescheduling requests will be subject to a $50.00 fee.
  1. Real Estate – Core/Elective Continuing Education Classes
    • Rescheduling
      Students may reschedule at no charge, subject to availability.
    • Late Arrival
      Late arrivals are not permitted for real estate continuing education classes. We recommend that students plan to arrive at least 30 minutes before the scheduled class time. Students who do not arrive for class on time will notbe admitted. Students may reschedule for a later date, subject to availability. Students may also request a transfer to an equivalent self-study program.
    • Early Departure
      Early departure is not permitted for real estate continuing education classes. Students who are unable to remain for the duration of a scheduled class will not receive credit for attendance. Students are permitted to reschedule attendance for the entire class at a later date, subject to availability. Students may also request a transfer to an equivalent self-study program.
  1. Real Estate – Pre- and Post-License “Accelerated” Class and Webinar Sessions
    • Rescheduling More Than 4 Business Days In Advance of Class
      Students may reschedule at no charge, subject to availability.
    • Rescheduling Within 4 Business Days of Class
      Rescheduling requests received by phone with less than 4 business days in advance of the scheduled class are subject to a $50.00 fee.
    • Failure to Attend (No Show) 
      Students who do not attend a scheduled class will be subject to a $50.00 rescheduling fee, subject to availability.
    • Eligibility
      Students may only attend and earn credit for classes or webinars if the prerequisite coursework has been completed or waived. All sessions must be completed before the expiration date.
    • Late Arrival
      Illinois law requires that students attend the entire class or webinar session. Late arrivals are not permitted for real estate pre and post-license sessions. We recommend that students plan to arrive at least 30 minutes before the scheduled class time. Students who do not arrive for class on time will notearn credit for any part of the session. If any portion of the session is not attended, the student must complete the entire session when it’s offered on a future date.
    • Early Departure or Failure to Confirm Attendance
      Illinois law requires that students attend the entire class or webinar session. Attendance is verified throughout the session. If a student fails to confirm his/her attendance at the required interval(s), the student will not earn credit for any part the session and must attend the entire session when it’s offered on a future date.
  1. Real Estate – Pre- and Post-License Classroom Programs
    • Rescheduling More Than 4 Business Days In Advance of Class
      Students may reschedule at no charge, subject to availability.
    • Rescheduling Within 4 Business Days of Class
      Rescheduling requests received by phone with less than 4 business days in advance of the scheduled class are subject to a $50.00 fee.

    • Late Arrival
      Class programs are completed over multiple days of attendance. Students are expected to attend and participate in each class session. Late arrivals are not permitted, so we recommend that students plan to arrive at least 30 minutes before the scheduled classes.Students who do not arrive for class on time will be required to complete the entire session on a future date when it is available. (In some cases, it may be possible to makeup missed sessions through additional self-study, but this depends on regulatory requirements and course availability.)
    • Early Departure
      Class programs are completed over multiple days of attendance. Students are expected to attend and participate throughout each class session. Early departure is not permitted.Students who must leave early will be required to complete the entire session on a future date when it is available. (In some cases, it may be possible to makeup missed sessions through additional self-study, but this depends on regulatory requirements and course availability.)

Instructor-Led Programs – School Cancellations   

  1. What is the school’s policy regarding class cancellations?

In the unlikely event of a classroom program cancellation, students may request transfer to another, similar class or request a full refund of tuition paid. We assume no liability for any penalty fees on airline tickets, deposits for hotel accommodations or any other fees, charges, penalties or other incidental costs that a registrant might incur as a consequence of a program cancellation.

Course Expirations    

  1. Do course registrations expire?

Unless otherwise noted, all self-study courses expire six months after enrollment. In some cases, expired pre-license course enrollments may be extended for a fee. Please call our office for additional information.

Our Exam Ready real estate exam preparation programs and Fast-Track real estate pre-license programs include our Success Guarantee. We’re confident that after you attend our live, instructor-led program, you’ll pass your state exam. If not, just call us and we’ll arrange for you to retake the course for a reduced fee.

Job Placement

The Chicago Real Estate Institute does not in any way guarantee job placement upon completion of a real estate course. We are happy to assist with option that you can pursue after successful completion.

Chicago Real Estate Institute respects the privacy of all of our customers and we are committed to industry best-practices regarding safeguarding of your personal information. This privacy policy describes how we collect, use and disclose your information, your ability to opt-out of certain sharing of information and an overview of steps we take to protect information from unauthorized use and disclosure.

  1. Information Collection, Use, and Sharing

During the course of doing business, we may collect personal information about you that is required to complete enrollment in our courses, for billing purposes, marketing efforts and/or for regulatory reporting and audit requirements mandated by various Federal and State regulatory bodies. Personal information collected may be non-public and includes, but is not limited to:

Demographic information such as: your physical and mailing addresses, your email address, your employer information and work history, your age and, in limited circumstances, your SSN.

Financial information such as: credit card numbers with expiration dates and CVV numbers, bank routing and account numbers (for check and ACH transactions).

We may collect your personal information through any of the following methods:

  • Voluntary disclosure: We may obtain information you provide us directly either at this website, when speaking with our Customer Service Representatives, through emails you send or via other direct contact from you.
  • Referral partners: We may obtain information from individuals or companies with whom you have discussed certain education-related services and who may contact us in an attempt to serve your needs.
  • Data and list providers: We may obtain information through various regulators and providers of data and contact lists for individuals attached to industries that, in general, have a need for services provided by Chicago Real Estate Institute.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: We may use cookies and/or other similar technologies like web beacons to manage our website and email campaigns. We may track information about your activities at our website at any time and over time in an attempt to better serve your needs by providing you more relevant information. Although we do not currently do so, we may in the future use cookies to track you across third-party sites and use that information to allow third-parties to serve ads on our website. Additionally, our website may have links to external sites and content not hosted nor controlled by Chicago Real Estate Institute. This privacy policy does not apply to any external information or site and you are encouraged to review the privacy policy of any and all such sites before disclosing personal information to them.

We may use your information for a variety of purposes including, but not limited to:

  • Enrolling you in courses for which you have paid tuition or received a complimentary enrollment.
  • Responding to your requests for information on our programs or assistance from our instructors.
  • Contacting you about products or services that we believe may be of interest to you, or sharing information and special offers from other companies, both affiliated and non-affiliated.
  • Verifying and validating your identity such as when you attempt to log-in to a classroom equivalent (“webinar”) course that requires authentication.
  • Maintaining a record of our interactions with you if you contact our Customer Service Department, send an email to us or access any web-based help tool we may offer.
  • Investigating and attempting to prevent fraudulent or criminal activity and/or unauthorized use or access of personal information, our website or any other data system.
  • Responding to requests from event sponsors that provide complementary goods or services in conjunction with courses or events that that you attend.
  • In connection with a sale or transfer of some or all of our interests or assets in the Chicago Real Estate Institute or any affiliated organization.
  • To respond to a subpoena, request from a regulatory agency or as otherwise required by law.

Disclosure of personal information:

In general, we do not sell or rent your personal information to third-parties outside of our organization. However, from time-to-time we may enter into certain affiliate agreements with other companies that are designed to serve our customers’ needs by expanding our business offerings, or provide products and services to others to assist them in servicing their customers. We may share your personal information with these affiliates in the ordinary course of doing business for their use in a manner similar to the ways in which we use your information as described above. Additionally, we may share your information with any partner companies who may have or acquire an ownership stake in Chicago Real Estate Institute, in connection with a sale or transfer of all or a portion of our interests in Chicago Real Estate Institute and with certain State and Federal regulatory agencies that need your information to verify completion of a regulatory requirement prior to the issuance or renewal of a professional license. Finally, for all orders transacted with a credit card, we must transmit your credit card information to the third-party payment processor and, should you enroll in a course that requires shipping of course materials, we must share your information with the third-party shipper who will be delivering those materials.

  1. Opting out

We may send you marketing communications, product updates, information on contests or specials and other information that we believe will be of interest to you unless you specifically tell us that you do not wish to receive these types of communications. You may opt out of future contact from us at any time by sending us an email via the contact us form on our website or sending a written request to: Chicago Real Estate Institute, 2711 N Halsted St, Chicago, IL 60614. Please be specific in your opt-out request by including a statement specifically requesting to “opt out” of direct mail communication, email communication, facsimile communication, SMS text-message communication or all forms of communication. Note that this opt-out will stop marketing communications from us, however you will also need to opt-out of such communications with any of our affiliate organizations with whom you may have shared information that led you to a business relationship with us, or to whom we referred you for services we do not provide.
